Anacostia provides a unique opportunity for students to showcase their athletic abilities as soon as they begin their high school career. Students have the opportunity to engage in a variety of sports including our three championship level teams. Some recent highlights include:

  • The Anacostia Varsity Girls Basketball team is the 2019-20 DCSAA Class A State Champions! They also won the DCIAA City Championship four times over the last six years.
  • The Anacostia Varsity Football team finished as the 2019 DCIAA regular season champions, and was the #1 seed for DCIAA 2019 playoffs.
  • Coach Lane (Football) and Coach Williams (Boys Basketball) were recognized as DCIAA Coaches of the Year.
  • The Anacostia Varsity Girls Cheer Leading squad won the DCSAA State Championship from 2015-17 (3 consecutive years), and the DCIAA City Championship from 2013-17 (4 consecutive years).

In addition to our most dominant teams, we also offer the following athletic opportunities: baseball, bowling, cross country, flag football, golf, stunt cheer, swimming, tennis, indoor & outdoor track, volleyball, and a variety of Special Olympics sports opportunities.
